Baseball Game Preview: Travelers Rest Devildogs vs. Pendleton Bulldogs

The Travelers Rest Devildogs will square off against the Pendleton Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Travelers Rest earned a 5-2 victory over Woodmont. The game marked the Devildogs' most dominant win of the season.

Meanwhile, Pendleton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 15-9 victory. With that win, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Cody Williams was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Garrett Williams, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Pendleton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Pendleton's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Travelers Rest, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-12 record this season.

Travelers Rest came out on top in a nail-biter against Pendleton when the teams last played last Friday, sneaking past 9-7. Do the Devildogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
