Softball Game Preview: Encinal Jets vs. St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots

The Encinal Jets are taking a road trip to square off against the St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Encinal's last matchup with Acalanes could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. Encinal came up short against Acalanes, falling 13-2.

Encinal saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Tran, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph Notre Dame put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let The Bay School get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. That's two games straight that the Pilots have won by exactly 15 runs.

Cassandra Sanchez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Alana Sadie was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lexi Roben, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Encinal's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. Joseph Notre Dame, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Encinal took their victory against St. Joseph Notre Dame in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 12-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Encinal since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
