Football Recap: Point Loma Takes a Loss

Point Loma had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 3-4 to make it four. They came up short against the Bonita Vista Barons, falling 27-6. While losing is never fun, the Pointers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Barons are ranked ninth).

Eva Cruz threw for 104 yards on nine of 22 attempts. Makena Spradling was her top target, picking up 57 receiving yards.

As for Bonita Vista, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 28.3 points this season.

Mia Ramirez produced another solid performance rushing for 98 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, while also throwing for 106 yards and a pair of TDs. That's the most rushing yards she has posted since back in August.

Point Loma didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-16 loss against Clairemont on the 16th. As for Bonita Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 34-2 victory against Eastlake on the 16th.
