AAAAAA Region 4 recap Sept. 26, 2012
South Cobb extended the longest winning streak in AAAAAA Region 4 this week by beating Campbell, 42-39. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Eagles.
McEachern suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 29-28 loss to McEachern. The Indians had been ranked 25th, but fell to 32 following the defeat.
South Cobb's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Stephon Masha threw for 295 and one touchdown and Ryan Sumner had 130 yards receiving. On the ground Masha chipped in 139 yards. Malik Carter helped South Cobb's passing attack out by catching four balls for 73 yards.
South Cobb's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Masha has thrown for 909 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Sumner has 24 catches for 303 yards. Chauncey Ingram leads the league in rushing with 412 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when North Cobb takes on Harrison. At the moment, the Warriors are in second, while the Hoyas are in third.
McEachern was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to fourth in AAAAAA Region 4. The Indians beat Beach 29-28 earlier in the week.
