Soccer Game Preview: Mena vs. Malvern

The Mena Bearcats will head out on the road to square off against the Malvern Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mena took a seven-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Hope, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bearcats beat the Bobcats by a goal, winning 3-2. The score was all tied up 2-2 at the break, but Mena were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Malvern made sure to put some goals up on the board against Bauxite on Friday. They walked away with a 4-2 victory over the Miners. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Malvern's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

The win snapped Malvern's losing streak at six matches and leaves them with a 3-9-1 record. As for Mena, their record is now an identical 3-9-1.

Mena skirted past Malvern 3-2 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
