Softball Recap: Asotin Takes a Loss

Asotin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They fell 5-2 to the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna Broncos. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-6 back in April.

Georgia Schaefer put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off 11 hits. Schaefer was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Schaefer wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Dougan, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Avery Triplett also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Asotin's record now sits at 1-17. As for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-14.

While Asotin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
