The Dennis-Yarmouth Regional Dolphins will face off against the Sandwich Blue Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dennis-Yarmouth Regional is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season.
While Dennis-Yarmouth Regional's victory against Nantucket wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dolphins sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Whalers on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Dolphins in their matchups with the Whalers: they've now won four in a row.
The team relied heavily on Skylar Hopkins, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Ormon, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Sandwich got the win against Nauset Regional on Monday by a conclusive 14-2. The result was nothing new for the Blue Knights, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Sophie Farrington spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lane Kraihanzel and Mia Consalvi did most of the damage at the plate: Kraihanzel got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Consalvi went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those four runs gave Kraihanzel a new career-high. Maddie Brown was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Dennis-Yarmouth Regional now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Sandwich, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
