Soccer Game Preview: Alleghany vs. Riverheads

The Alleghany Mountaineers are taking a road trip to challenge the Riverheads Gladiators at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alleghany has given up an average of 4.8 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Alleghany is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Wilson Memorial on Friday. They came up short against the Hornets, falling 6-0.

Meanwhile, Riverheads kept a clean sheet against Rockbridge County on Thursday. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 2-0.

Alleghany has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Riverheads, their win bumped their record up to 9-3-2.

Alleghany couldn't quite get it done against Riverheads when the teams last played back in April as they fell 2-0. Can the Mountaineers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
