Baseball Game Preview: Westampton Tech Panthers vs. Willingboro Chimeras

Westampton Tech has gone 8-2 against Willingboro recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chimeras at 3:45 p.m. The timing is sure in Westampton Tech's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Willingboro has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Westampton Tech had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Moorestown Friends on Wednesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Foxes with a sharp 9-1 win. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Jeret Torres spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jael Espinal Sanchez was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Austin Mochernuk, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Willingboro came up short against Medford Tech on Monday, falling 14-4.

Westampton Tech now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Willingboro, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Westampton Tech took their win against Willingboro in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Chimeras have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
