Basketball Game Preview: Terry Sanford Bulldogs vs. Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Spartans

The Terry Sanford Bulldogs will square off against the Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Spartans at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

Terry Sanford unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against NC GBB Academy National on Saturday, falling 80-45. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-24.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ameya Brown, who went 6-for-14 en route to 18 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Alani-Skye Wilkerson, who posted eight points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Southern School of Energy and Sustainability made easy work of Varsity Opponent on Friday and carried off a 65-40 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Terry Sanford better keep an eye on Jakayla Palmer. She was instrumental in Southern School of Energy and Sustainability's win, shooting 75% from the field on her way to 31 points and four steals. Ashlyn Hudson was another key player, going 6-for-10 to rack up 14 points along with eight boards and five steals.

Southern School of Energy and Sustainability smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Terry Sanford took their win against Southern School of Energy and Sustainability in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 61-39 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
