Basketball Game Preview: Banks County Leopards vs. Athens Academy Spartans

The Banks County Leopards will venture away from home to challenge the Athens Academy Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Banks County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.

Banks County is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Rabun County just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 63-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Leopards have suffered since January 26, 2024.

Meanwhile, Athens Academy lost a heartbreaker to Commerce when they met back in December of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Athens Academy took a hard 62-45 fall against Commerce. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Athens Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Banks County, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.

Banks County beat Athens Academy 59-51 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Banks County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
