Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Muncy

Muncy won the last time they faced North Penn-Liberty and things went their way on Saturday too. The Muncy Indians managed a 58-53 victory over the North Penn-Liberty Mountie. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Mountie are ranked 390th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Muncy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kohen Meyer, who went 9 of 10 on his way to 18 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxton Frantz, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Several Mountie players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evan Mctish, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Mctish is becoming a predictor of North Penn-Liberty's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 2-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Blake Oakley was another key player, putting up ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.

The win was the fourth in a row for Muncy, bringing their record for this year to 9-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for North Penn-Liberty, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Muncy will welcome Northwest Area at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Northwest Area will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Muncy surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Penn-Liberty, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Williamson at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th. North Penn-Liberty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season.
