Harley Allendale Columbia extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-11 in the process. They lost 19-5 to the Naples Big Green Machines. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wolves have suffered against the Big Green Machines since June 4, 2021.
Harley Allendale Columbia saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Mayall, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Another was Jaden Marrero, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.
As for Naples, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Naples' side, Lukas Hall and Hunter Jacoby made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hall pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Jacoby pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Naples is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise. At the plate, Hall went 3-for-5 with four runs, one double, and one RBI, while Jacoby got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Jacoby a new career-high.
In other batting news, Rowan Biggs was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Ollie Bruen was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harley Allendale Columbia will venture away from home to face off against Honeoye at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Wolves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Naples, they are taking a road trip to challenge Bradford Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
