Basketball Recap: Paisley Vandergriff Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Pikes Peak Christian

Elbert's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 45-33 win over the Pikes Peak Christian Eagles. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 41-39 loss the last time these two teams met.

Elbert's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Paisley Vandergriff led the charge by putting up ten points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Vandergriff is becoming a predictor of Elbert's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 3-1 (and 2-10 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Piper Warren, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 21 boards.

Elbert smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Pikes Peak Christian lost, don't look at Bella Fletcher. Despite the final result, she posted 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and six blocks. Those six blocks gave Fletcher a new career-high.

Elbert's record now sits at 5-11. As for Pikes Peak Christian, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-11.
