Football Game Preview: Magnolia Bulldogs vs. Cypress Lakes Spartans + How To Watch

The Magnolia Bulldogs will challenge the Cypress Lakes Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Magnolia knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Cypress Lakes likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Magnolia strolled past Klein with points to spare, taking the game 38-22. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 31-8 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bearkats cut but never quite recovered from.

Magnolia can attribute much of their success to Cash Ferrell, who gained 152 total yards, and Chase Lowery, who threw for 172 yards and three TDs while completing 76.2% of his passes. Joseph Solomon was in the mix as well, providing the Bulldogs with two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Cypress Lakes hadn't done well against Cypress Springs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 38-17 margin over the Panthers. Considering the Spartans have won four matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Cypress Lakes' win came from a few key players Magnolia will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Theodis Fields, who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of scores. Cypress Lakes is 4-2 when Fields posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmy Alarcon, who threw for 156 yards and one TD.

Magnolia's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.8 points on average over those games. As for Cypress Lakes, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
