Soccer Recap: Mexia Takes a Loss

Mexia was the 3-3 winner over Connally when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Connally Cadets who were credited with the win on Tuesday. The Connally Cadets got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to the Mexia Black Cats' two. The Black Cats' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Their goal came courtesy of Crystal Gonzalez, who's now up to five this season.

Mexia's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Connally, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-6-1 record.

Mexia has already played their next matchup (against Gatesville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Connally will head out on the road to face off against Robinson at 5:00 p.m. on February 4th. Connally's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for nine straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.
