Basketball Recap: Trinity Valley Comes Up Short

Trinity Valley won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They came up short against the Temple Christian Eagles, falling 69-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Trojans have suffered since January 12th.

Temple Christian found their leader in sophomore Jeremiah Thirdkill, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Thirdkill also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Temple Christian is 7-3 when he posts at least three steals, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jessie Dejesus, who went 7 of 13 en route to 18 points and six rebounds.

Trinity Valley's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Temple Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Trinity Valley will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on St. Stephen's Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Temple Christian, they will take on Fort Worth THESA in a tournament on Thursday. Temple Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.
