Soccer Game Preview: Grand Island vs. Omaha Westside

Grand Island hasn't had much luck against Omaha Westside recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Islanders will venture away from home to take on the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Omaha Westside better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Grand Island's game on Monday is any indication, that's when Grand Island really gets things going. The Islanders never let Norfolk get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. Pedro Ventura had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Grand Island.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Omaha Westside). They blew past Omaha North 6-1 on Monday. Omaha Westside haven't had any issues with Omaha North recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Omaha Westside pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five matches. As for Grand Island, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.

Grand Island might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Omaha Westside when the teams last played last Saturday. Can the Islanders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
