Basketball Recap: Immanuel Christian Drops Season-High Score on Horizon

Immanuel Christian extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-5. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Horizon Scorpions. On the bright side, the 42- point performance marked the Warriors' highest-scoring contest to date.

When it comes to explaining why Immanuel Christian lost, don't look at T'Mara Simon. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 13 points and 18 boards. Simon is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in each of the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Hanalei Esparza, who posted six points and nine boards.

As for Horizon, their win bumped their record up to 8-3. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Immanuel Christian: they've now won three in a row.

Horizon had a senior duo take command as Sofia Garcia scored 11 points along with six assists and six steals and Nima Ruiz almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine steals. Those nine steals set a new season-high mark for Ruiz. Roxanne Solis was another key player, putting up five points and five steals.
