Softball Recap: Holt Ironmen vs. Pickens County Tornadoes

Holt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pickens County Tornadoes. The Ironmen were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tornadoes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Janiyah Blakely made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Neala Roper, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Even though they lost, Holt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Holt's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Pickens County, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Coincidentally, Holt and Pickens County will both be playing Holy Spirit Catholic the next time they take the field. Holt will host Holy Spirit Catholic at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Pickens County will host them at 5:00 p.m. on March 17th.
