Basketball Game Preview: Wheaton Academy Warriors vs. Timothy Christian Trojans

Wheaton Academy hasn't had much luck against Timothy Christian recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Wheaton Academy Warriors will take on the Timothy Christian Trojans in a holiday battle at at 12:30 p.m. Wheaton Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Timothy Christian will be coming in after a defeat.

On Wednesday, the stars were shining brightly for Wheaton Academy in a 50-33 win over Harvest Christian Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Meanwhile, Timothy Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 36-32 to IC Catholic Prep. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Timothy Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Elisabeth Van Den Berg dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maria Pozol-Neigo, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Timothy Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Wheaton Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Everything went Wheaton Academy's way against Timothy Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as Wheaton Academy made off with a 48-26 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wheaton Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
