Baseball Recap: Churchill Comes Up Short

Churchill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Madison Mavericks. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mavericks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Samuel Kennedy was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Lane Williamson, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Churchill's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Madison, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-1.

While Churchill had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
