Softball Recap: Tucson High Magnet School Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Tucson High Magnet School entered their tilt with Marana on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 11-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-7 back in March.

Alyssa Torres spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaliyah Grigsby, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sofia Trejo, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4.

Tucson High Magnet School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Tucson High Magnet School's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Marana, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-10.

The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Badgers 4, the Blue Devils 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Marana will challenge rival Rincon/University at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
