Baseball Recap: Triad Takes a Loss

Triad came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Xenia Buccaneers by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. The Cardinals just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Waylin Holtsberry spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Triad saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Duncan Funderburgh, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Triad's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Xenia, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season.

Triad is taking a road trip to take on Legacy Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Xenia, they will host Springfield at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
