Baseball Game Preview: Independence vs. Riverbend Bears

Independence will face off against the Riverbend Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Independence 3.2, Riverbend 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Independence is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Potomac Falls a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Independence, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Riverbend entered their tilt with Lightridge on Tuesday with 18 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 19. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Bolts.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Riverbend, their victory bumped their record up to 21-4.

Everything went Independence's way against Riverbend when the teams last played back in March, as Independence made off with a 9-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Independence since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
