Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Common Eagles vs. Weld Central Rebels

Liberty Common has gone a perfect 3-0 against Weld Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Rebels at 11:00 a.m. Liberty Common has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Liberty Common came up short against Platte Valley on Wednesday, falling 19-9. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Broncos 5-1 in the first period.

Teagan Williams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bowyn Caudill, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Weld Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Resurrection Christian.

Weld Central's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Liberty Common, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Liberty Common has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Weld Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Liberty Common came out on top in a nail-biter against Weld Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
