Basketball Recap: New Prairie Cougars vs. Wheeler Bearcats

The New Prairie Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They really took it to Wheeler for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-26 win at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win New Prairie has managed all season.

New Prairie's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Wiginton, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Lapczynski, who scored nine points along with six steals.

Wheeler lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brady Rife, who scored eight points.

New Prairie's win bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Wheeler, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Prairie's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Knights at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th. Mishawaka Marian is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. As for Wheeler, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m.
