Baseball Recap: Shadow Ridge Victorious

Shadow Ridge proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 12) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Faith Lutheran Crusaders 4-3. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 7-5 victory the Crusaders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Spencer Walters tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Shadow Ridge is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Shadow Ridge's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Oliver Schoppmann, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Shadow Ridge's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-14. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Faith Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11.

Coming up, Shadow Ridge will head out to face off against Arbor View at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Aggies' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Faith Lutheran, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
