Baseball Recap: Kimberly Makes It 14 in a Row at Home

Kimberly won the last time they faced Oshkosh West and things went their way on Thursday too. The Papermakers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Wildcats 4-2. That's two games straight that the Papermakers have won by exactly two runs.

Sawyer Deering spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Benny Kieffer was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Ryan Halfmann, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Kimberly's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Oshkosh West, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kimberly will welcome Oak Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Papermakers surely won't give up without a fight.
