Softball Game Preview: Big Bear Bears vs. Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy

For the second straight game, Big Bear will face off against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy. The Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Big Bear turned things around against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy on Tuesday. They walked away with a 13-8 win over Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy. The game was the first time the Bears have beaten Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy on their field since March 5, 2019.

For Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy's part, Isabell Schnack spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and 12 unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Melea Romo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Adreana Kelly, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8. As for Big Bear, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-7.
