Basketball Game Preview: Johnson Jaguars vs. Clark Cougars

Johnson hasn't had much luck against Clark recently, but that could start to change on Friday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Johnson Jaguars take on the Clark Cougars at 8:00 p.m.

Johnson is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since January 10, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Churchill by a score of 49-47. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Chargers are ranked 33rd).

Reagan typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Clark proved too difficult a challenge. They strolled past the Rattlers with points to spare, taking the game 48-33. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Johnson's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-9. As for Clark, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-12 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Johnson, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-44 loss to Clark in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Johnson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
