Softball Recap: Shasta Beats Central Valley for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Shasta came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Central Valley Falcons, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since March 23, 2024.

Shasta saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Pe?a, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Pe?a a new career-high. Haley Salkeld was another, scoring a run and stealing a base.

Shasta's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Central Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5.

Coming up, Shasta will be taking part in a tournament against Las Plumas at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Las Plumas will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Shasta surely won't give up without a fight. As for Central Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against Anderson at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Anderson has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.83 runs per game on average), something Central Valley will no doubt try to take advantage of.
