Basketball Recap: Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran Comes Up Short

Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 1-7. They lost 53-30 to the Leo Lions. The Cadets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

As for Leo, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games.

Leo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mackenzie Collins, who posted 11 points in addition to eight assists and five rebounds. Collins is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Leah Shappell was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

Looking ahead, Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran will head out to challenge DeKalb at 7:30 p.m. on the 9th. As for Leo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Garrett at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions' defense better be ready for this one: the Railroaders have averaged an impressive 54.3 points per game this season.
