Basketball Recap: Swink Wins Going Away Against Calhan

Swink hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They enjoyed a cozy 66-50 win over the Calhan Bulldogs on Wednesday.

Swink had a senior duo take command as Nate Cabrera went 7-for-17 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals and Nick Paolucci shot 57% from the field to rack up 20 points and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Paolucci has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Mills, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 boards.

Swink was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Calhan lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Patrick Glaser, who posted 19 points and six rebounds. That was a full 38% of Calhan's points, marking the seventh time in a row Glaser has earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kastyn Mallette, who had five points.

Swink's victory bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Calhan, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Swink has already played their next contest, a 59-49 loss against Lake County on the 21st. As for Calhan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 45-44 win against Miami-Yoder on the 21st.
