Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Riverton Parke's 17th in Last 19 Outings

It's playoff time, and Riverton Parke had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Covington Trojans with a sharp 12-1 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 20 matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Madison Coonce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maddy Lumaye and Haylee Mathas did most of the damage at the plate: Lumaye went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Mathas went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Lumaye has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jacee Stonebraker, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Riverton Parke always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Covington only posted an OBP of .176.

Riverton Parke has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.5 runs. As for Covington, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-16.

Riverton Parke didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-1 win against Lafayette Central Catholic on the 30th. Covington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
