Softball Game Preview: Roma Gladiators vs. Martin Tigers

Roma is on a six-game streak of home losses, and Martin a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Roma Gladiators will be playing at home against the Martin Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Roma came up short against Mission on Friday, falling 17-6.

Madelyn Garcia made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.

Meanwhile, Martin fell victim to Nixon and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 15-0 to the Mustangs.

Martin's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Roma, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.

Roma's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. Roma has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Martin, though, as they've been averaging only 0.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Roma continue to outrun the ball?

Everything went Roma's way against Martin when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Roma made off with an 11-2 win. Will Roma repeat their success, or does Martin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
