Soccer Game Preview: Benedictine vs. Saint John Paul the Great Catholic

The Benedictine Cadets will square off against the Saint John Paul the Great Catholic Wolves at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Benedictine has three straight victories, Saint John Paul the Great Catholic has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Benedictine is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Christchurch School, who was ranked third at the time (Benedictine was ranked sixth). The Cadets never let the Seahorses get on the board and left with a 3-0 win on Tuesday. Considering Benedictine have won five matches by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Christchurch School with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Harrison Efford, Mick Drew, and Noah Gill.

Meanwhile, Saint John Paul the Great Catholic came up short against The Heights on Thursday and fell 3-1.

Saint John Paul the Great Catholic now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Benedictine, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3-1.

Benedictine beat Saint John Paul the Great Catholic by a goal in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, winning 2-1. Will the Cadets repeat their success, or do Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
