Softball Game Preview: Chaparral Lobos vs. Silver Fighting Colts

For the second straight game, Chaparral will face off against Silver. The Lobos will challenge the Fighting Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chaparral has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while Silver will arrive with seven straight victories.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Chaparral's offense. They came up short against Silver on Tuesday, falling 23-0.

For Silver's part, Ariel Alvarado made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Alvarado has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Vanessa Lucero was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Brailyn Lopez was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

Silver kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 13 consecutive matchups.

Silver pushed their record up to 20-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Chaparral, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-19.
