Volleyball Recap: Rootstown Falls Despite Big Games from Olivia O'neill and Addie Biggin

Rootstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Mogadore Wildcats, falling 3-0. The Rovers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Rootstown was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring 14 points in every single set they played. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-14, 25-14.

Rootstown's loss came despite strong showings from Addie Biggin and Olivia O'Neill. Biggin had 11 digs and two aces, while O'Neill had eight digs and one block. Biggin has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more digs the last nine times she's played.

Leading Mogadore to victory were Gracie Shull and Alana Whitmore. Shull had 14 digs and two aces, while Whitmore had eight digs. That's the most digs Whitmore has posted over her last seven matchups. Emma Buter also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Rootstown's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Mogadore, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Rootstown has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Wickliffe on the 7th. As for Mogadore, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Lake Center Christian on the 7th.
