Football Recap: Aurora Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 14-14 at halftime, Aurora was not quite McDonald County's equal in the second half on Friday. They took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Houn Dawgs of the 28-27 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Aurora and nudges their season record down to 2-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-0 Seneca (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 83.3% over those games). As for McDonald County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Aurora will venture away from home to take on East Newton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Houn Dawgs will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for McDonald County, they will host Seneca at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Indians have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
