Basketball Recap: Sumrall Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

If Purvis wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Sumrall, they should've done a better job of containing Ella Robertson. The Sumrall Bobcats strolled past the Purvis Tornadoes with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 54-38 thanks in part to Robertson, who went 10 of 22 en route to 24 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The game was her fifth in a row with at least ten points.

Purvis' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noa Bolar, who posted 12 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Bolar is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Breleigh Adkins, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 boards.

Sumrall's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-13. As for Purvis, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Sumrall will take on Pass Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sumrall is facing Pass Christian at the right time seeing as Pass Christian is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Purvis, they will be playing at home against Forrest County Agricultural at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
