Football Game Preview: New Paltz Huguenots vs. Marlboro Central Dukes

The New Paltz Huguenots will take on the Marlboro Central Dukes at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between New Paltz and Saugerties, and Saugerties kept the tradition alive. The Huguenots took a 29-14 bruising from the Sawyers on Saturday.

Although New Paltz took the loss, they still got scores from Nick Drewnowski and Nicolas Burda.

New Paltz didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Mikey Bauer, Burda, and Michael Crocker picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marlboro Central). They breezed past Liberty to the tune of 46-0 on Saturday. The Dukes have beaten the Redhawks the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Redhawks has come to flipping the script.

New Paltz better keep an eye on Devin Robertson. He was instrumental in Marlboro Central's win, rushing for 15 yards and one TD, while also throwing for 87 yards and one touchdown on only eight passes. The dominant performance also gave Robertson a new career-high in passer rating (139.1).

New Paltz's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Marlboro Central, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

New Paltz suffered a grim 34-14 defeat to Marlboro Central in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Huguenots, Carter Rivieccio (who threw for 200 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
