Softball Recap: Central Cabarrus Extends Winning Streak to Three

Central Cabarrus entered their tilt with Concord on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Spiders. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Taryn Jenkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kinley Hood was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Cecilia Measmer was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Central Cabarrus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Central Cabarrus' record is now 8-5. As for Concord, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-4.

Coming up, Central Cabarrus will take on Northwest Cabarrus at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Concord, they will head out to take on Albemarle at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Concord is facing Albemarle at the right time seeing as Albemarle is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
