Softball Game Preview: Palma Chieftains vs. Everett Alvarez Eagles

The Palma Chieftains will face off against the Everett Alvarez Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Palma turned things around against North Salinas on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Vikings a 5-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Everett Alvarez, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Watsonville on Monday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wildcatz recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The result came thanks to Dani Amendola's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 22 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bella Hanson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaris Perez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Everett Alvarez's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Palma, their win bumped their record up to 6-14-1.
