Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jayson Ruiz and Ian Bristol Lead Western to Victory

It was a proper cat-fight when Western duked it out with Chaminade-Madonna on Tuesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Lions. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Western walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-17, 25-18.

Leading Western to victory were Ian Bristol and Jayson Ruiz. Bristol had 12 digs and three aces, while Ruiz had 17 digs. Those 17 digs gave Ruiz a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Western was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in five consecutive contests.

Western's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Chaminade-Madonna, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Western will welcome Coconut Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chaminade-Madonna, they are taking a road trip to square off against American Heritage at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
