Basketball Recap: John Hay Comes Up Short

John Hay fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against John F. Kennedy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 79-78 to the John F. Kennedy Fighting Eagles. One positive for John Hay, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Taevon Walker and Quincy Boyd certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Walker posted 25 points, while Boyd scored 23 points. The dominant performance gave Boyd a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Melvin Wells, who put up eight points.

John Hay dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for John F. Kennedy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

John Hay wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-57 victory against Shaw on the 11th. As for John F. Kennedy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 86-55 loss against Glenville on the 13th.
