Basketball Recap: William Penn's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

William Penn hadn't done well against Red Lion recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The William Penn Bearcats walked away with a 79-68 victory over the Red Lion Lions. The win was familiar territory for the Bearcats who have now won four matches in a row.

William Penn found their leader in sophomore Nasir Barnes, who posted 26 points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Warde, who scored 14 points.

William Penn is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Red Lion, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-3.

William Penn and Red Lion should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. William Penn (ranked 158th) will meet South Western (ranked 531st) at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Red Lion will challenge Spring Grove at 7:15 p.m. on Monday up 224 places (106 vs. 330).
