Softball Recap: Charleston Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

After losing to Mahomet-Seymour the last time they met, Charleston decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Trojans blew past the Bulldogs 13-3 on Monday. Considering the Trojans have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Lainie Keefer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisyn Watson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Charleston has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Mahomet-Seymour, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charleston will venture away from home to challenge Altamont at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mahomet-Seymour, they will head out on the road to face off against Urbana at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
