Sunnyside faced O'Connor in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Blue Devils fell  8-3 to the Eagles. The Blue Devils' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Sunnyside's loss dropped their record down to 22-7-1. As for O'Connor, the  win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-10.
 Looking ahead, Sunnyside will be playing at home against Corona del Sol  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Aztecs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.18  runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for O'Connor, they will head out on the road to  challenge  Red Mountain  at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Mountain Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6  runs per game  this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
