Baseball Game Preview: Western Boone Stars vs. North Putnam Cougars

The Western Boone Stars will square off against the North Putnam Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Western Boone is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Tri-West Hendricks just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Bruins by a score of 2-1.

Western Boone saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Mallory, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for North Putnam's offense. They came up short against Edgewood on Thursday, falling 10-0. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Western Boone's loss dropped their record down to 16-10. As for North Putnam, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.

Western Boone skirted past North Putnam 8-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2015. Do the Stars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
